WIMR was saddened to hear of the recent passing of Ms Susan (Susie) Young.

Ms Susan (Susie) Young was a highly valued member of the WIMR Board for almost 10 years.  As an appointee of the NSW Office of Science and Medical Research and NSW Health, Ms Young’s leadership was invaluable to WIMR in its formative years.

During her time as a Board member, Ms Young played an integral role in helping steer WIMR through a period of significant growth.

WIMR Executive Director, Professor Philip O’Connell said, “During this time, WIMR grew, not just as an organisation, but also in the quality and quantity of pioneering research discoveries being achieved by our world class researchers.”

In addition to her role as a WIMR Board member, Ms Young was also the inaugural Chair of the Human Resources and Remuneration sub-committee and held this important role for 10 years.

“On behalf of all at WIMR and the WIMR Board, I offer my heartfelt condolences to Susie’s children Nicole and Jessica, her partner David, her sisters Karen, Lisa and Gwen and her grandchildren Olivia, Ray and William.

“Susie was an outstanding lady who leaves an incredible legacy.  We are very grateful to have known her,” said Professor Philip O’Connell.
