Biography

Finula Isik is a postdoctoral researcher in the Neuroinflammation research group within the Centre for Immunology and Allergy Research at The Westmead Institute for Medical Research.

Finula completed her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at the University of Sydney and went on to do her honours and PhD research in Neuropathology at the Brain and Mind Centre. In her research, Finula investigated a novel gene variant and the involvement of lipid dysregulation in an under researched neurodegenerative disease, Multiple System Atrophy.
 
Finula has recently started working with Professor David Brown on a project investigating the neuroinflammatory mechanisms of spinal cord injury, utilising a range of laboratory techniques, and both cell and animal models.
