Sarcopaenia is muscle wasting and weakness, associated with age, disuse after injury, or with myopathies. As Vitamin D deficiency is associated with muscle weakness, we have developed new tissue- and cell-type-specific mouse models to study the role of vitamin D and its receptor in muscle function and regeneration.
