The Institute offers postgraduates professional career development, mentoring, social clubs and a leading edge facility.

We welcome summer projects, Masters, Honours and PhD students.

Our proximity to - and close affiliation with - Westmead Hospital and the University of Sydney Medical School ensures research at the Institute extends from the laboratory to the patient. This bench-to-bedside philosophy means that students work with clinicians to solve real life medical problems.

In fact, every project our students work on has a very real clinical relevance to patient care.

Applications are processed via the Westmead Institute’s affiliate university, The University of Sydney. We also welcome students from other universities.

For general enrolment enquiries, contact Naomi Hollier on or 02 9845 6303.

Honours Social Committee

The Applied Medical Sciences (AMED) Honours Program has funded the Honours Social Committee, or HSoC, to organise social events for the honour students and their mentors.

The committee consists of both honour students and mentors who organise monthly activities including trivia and game nights, bowling, pizza dinners, and an end of year BBQ to name a few.

These social nights give a chance for the students to get to know each other and provides an opportunity to relax and unwind at the end of each month whilst enjoying time outside of the lab.
